The Liberia Medicines & Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) is the statutory arm of the Government of Liberia tasked with ensuring that all medicines and health products circulating within Liberia’s borders are safe, effective, and of the highest quality. Established by provisions outlined in the National Drug Policy, LMHRA’s mission is to regulate the pharmaceutical sector and oversee the establishment of a national quality control laboratory.
Officially established on September 29, 2010, LMHRA plays a vital role in safeguarding public and animal health. We assess the safety, quality, and effectiveness of medicines and health products to ensure that their benefits outweigh any potential risks. Our core regulatory functions are built around our mission, vision, and values.
The Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority strives to achieve the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficacy for medicines and health products. We employ legal, effective, efficient, and transparent regulatory systems supported by competent human resources and adequate technology, all aimed at safeguarding public health.
We aim to be a leading medicines and health products regulatory authority of excellence in Africa.
